What We Do

Replacement Car Keys — What We Offer

A lost or stolen car key is more than just inconvenient — modern keys contain transponder chips, remote locking circuits, and proximity sensors that all need to be correctly matched to your vehicle. Access247 provides a complete on-site service: we cut the physical blade, programme the electronic components, and verify full functionality before we leave.

We operate across Leeds and West Yorkshire with fully equipped mobile units, so there's no need to recover your vehicle to a dealer or wait days for a postal key service.

Dealer vs Access247: Main dealers typically charge £200–£600+ for a replacement key and require you to transport your vehicle to them, often with a multi-day wait. Access247 provides the same result at your location, in the same day, at a significantly lower price.

How It Works

How We Replace Your Key — Step by Step

01
Ownership Verification
We arrive at your location and verify vehicle ownership documentation.
02
ECU Access
The vehicle's ECU and immobiliser are accessed using our diagnostic interface.
03
Key Cutting
The key blade is cut to your specific lock profile using mobile key cutting equipment.
04
Transponder Programming
The transponder chip or smart key module is programmed to your vehicle's immobiliser.
05
Remote Coding & Test
Remote locking functions are coded and tested. All keys (new and existing) are verified to work correctly.

What Happens When All Keys Are Lost?

If every key to your vehicle has been lost or stolen, the process requires an additional step — reading the vehicle's EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory) to extract the immobiliser's security seed. This data is used to generate a new key that the vehicle will recognise as authorised.

This is a specialist procedure that requires physical access to the vehicle's ECU. Access247 technicians are trained and equipped to perform EEPROM reads on-site for the vast majority of vehicle makes and models.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you replace keys if all keys are lost?+

Yes. Using EEPROM reading, we extract the vehicle's security data and generate a new authorised key without requiring an existing key to copy from.

How long does it take on-site?+

Typically 30–90 minutes once we arrive, depending on vehicle make, model, and key type. All-keys-lost jobs may take slightly longer due to the EEPROM procedure.

Is a replacement key from you as good as a dealer key?+

Yes. We use OEM-grade key blanks and the same programming protocols used by manufacturer dealerships. The result is functionally identical to the original factory key.

Can you programme a spare key while I still have my original?+

Absolutely. This is a common request and is the most cost-effective scenario, as we don't need to perform EEPROM extraction. We add the new key to the vehicle while the original is present.

Do I need to be with my vehicle?+

Yes. You or an authorised representative must be present with valid proof of ownership. We cannot programme a key without verifying you are the authorised owner.

What information do I need to provide?+

We will need the vehicle registration number and proof of ownership (V5 logbook or insurance document). Photo ID is also required.
