Down to south Leeds
From Stanningley we drop down through Armley and Beeston or take the Ring Road round, and Middleton is about eight miles out. Middleton Park Avenue, Acre Road, Town Street and the estates towards Belle Isle are all in our standard area.
Plenty of the parking here is on driveways and estate roads, so a lot of our work happens outside somebody's front door rather than in a car park.
Middleton Park and the woods
Middleton Park is one of the biggest areas of woodland in the city, and woodland is where keys go missing. Dog walkers, families at the weekend and anyone using the paths after rain all end up calling us occasionally.
If the key has gone somewhere in the park, we come to the car park and cut and program a new key at the vehicle. It is faster and cheaper than recovery, and you drive home rather than waiting for a truck.
What else we get called to
- Keys locked in the car at the shops or outside the house, opened with non-destructive entry
- Older cars with stiff ignitions that finally refuse to turn, which is barrel work
- Snapped keys, which need extraction before anything else
- Cars that crank but will not start, usually an immobiliser fault
- Spare keys for households where one key is doing all the work
What to expect
| Problem | Typical fix |
|---|---|
| Key lost in the park | New key made in the car park |
| Locked out | Entry without damage |
| Ignition seized | Barrel serviced or replaced, key kept where possible |
| Will not start | Scan first, then the right repair |
Our route into Middleton
We come down through Armley and Beeston, or take the Ring Road and drop in from the Dewsbury Road side. Middleton Park Avenue, Acre Road, Town Street and the estates towards Belle Isle are all short hops once we are in LS10.
It is about eight miles from the yard. South Leeds traffic at peak is the main variable, along with anything happening at Elland Road, which affects the routes in from the north. For the park, tell us which car park or entrance you are at, because it is a big site with several ways in.
A typical call-out in Middleton
A family walks the woods on a Sunday, comes back to the car park, and the key is not in anyone's pocket. There is no spare, because the car came from a private sale with one key and that was three years ago.
We come to the car park and make a key at the vehicle. On older cars, which is a lot of what we see here, that is often quicker and cheaper than people expect, because the security systems are simpler than on a new car. The car is driven home the same afternoon rather than recovered, which on a Sunday is the difference between a minor annoyance and a week of borrowed lifts.
Nearby areas we cover from Middleton
We cover Belle Isle, Hunslet, Thorpe Park, Robin Hood and the edges of Beeston and Rothwell in the same run.
For the park and the woods, the entrance you used is the detail we need. The site is large and the car parks are well apart, so naming the right one gets us to you much faster than a postcode will.
